Offline play

Ripplelings runs on your device. Ordinary Gardens, daily practice, your collection, and local replay viewing work offline. The app has no advertising, purchases, tracking, remote analytics, or third-party crash reporting. Internet permission supports optional online competition. The app does not request location, camera, microphone, contacts, or storage permissions. Playing offline does not create an online profile or upload runs.

Google Play setup

For installations managed by Google Play, Ripplelings asks Google Play for age-sharing and required approval signals when the app returns to the foreground. First launch and app updates may need an internet connection through Google Play. The same child-appropriate game is offered to all ages, including when optional age sharing is declined. Age ranges are processed briefly on the device and are not saved, logged, sent to the developer, or used for advertising or analytics. Ripplelings never reads or stores the Google install identifier. Google Play handles its own verification and sharing choices under its own terms and privacy policy.

Offline access after setup

The app saves only a local setup status and app version, separate from your game progress. Normal gameplay works offline after setup. If Google Play explicitly requires verification or approval, that requirement must be resolved before play resumes. The app checks again when you return, so a prior offline session is not treated as a fresh verification. New direct APK installations do not call the Play-only age service.

What stays on your device

Scores, unlocked gardens and constellations, daily medals and looks, challenge progress, sound settings, the active run, Garden records, a small recent-run history, and bounded deterministic replays are stored on your device. Run history includes turns, duration, chains, and why a run ended. Replays contain a run seed, rules version and tapped board positions. Watching or practicing a replay does not upload it or earn rewards. A developer export copies local records without transmitting them.

Optional online competition

Online participation is currently available only to players who indicate they are 18 or older and choose to join. Joining creates a random profile identifier, generated public garden name, and private access and recovery credentials. We retain hashed credentials and the accepted notice version, not a birth date, email address, real name, advertising identifier, or device identifier. The access credential is saved on your device. No online request is needed before you choose to join or restore a profile.

Submitted runs and public replays

Choosing Submit sends the recorded moves, seed, mode, rules version and results to the competition service. The service verifies the moves and stores the calculated results, server receipt time and optional daily challenge date with your profile. Your generated name, ranking and submitted gameplay can be viewed by other online players. Daily replays open after the submission deadline. Sharing a replay through Copy is separate: you choose where to paste its game data. The app does not automatically send messages or contacts.

Retention and security

Online requests use HTTPS. The service uses temporary hashes of connection addresses to limit abuse; scheduled cleanup removes expired rate-limit entries within 48 hours during normal operation. Hosting providers may process connection logs under their own policies. Non-best replays older than 30 days may be removed. Best replays, ranking results and verified daily medals remain until you delete your online profile. No data is sold or used for advertising. Hosting and database providers process online data to operate the service.

Hosting provider

Cloudflare hosts the optional competition service and stores online records in its D1 database. We do not retain application request logs. Cloudflare may process network and security information under its privacy policy at https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/. Database recovery backups expire after seven days. Restored data is kept offline until deleted profiles have been excluded.

Deleting online data

Open Journey, Profile, then Delete online profile and submitted runs. This deletes your online profile, rankings, replays, credentials and active daily tickets. Deletion needs a connection. On another device, restore with your recovery code first, then delete. Support can assist with access questions, but cannot recover a lost private code. Clearing local app storage does not delete server data; delete your online profile first if you want both removed.

Deleting local progress

To remove local game information on Android, open Settings, Apps, Ripplelings, Storage & cache, then Clear storage. Uninstalling also removes local saves, earned rewards and access credentials. Android backup and device transfer are disabled. Online recovery restores your online identity and rankings; it does not back up or restore the offline collection.

External pages and support

Opening a website or contacting support uses your browser or email provider outside the game. If you email support, the information you choose to send is handled by that email service and the recipient to answer your request. Do not include passwords or sensitive information. The game does not attach or send your saved progress.

Players of all ages

Offline Gardens, daily practice, medals and replays are available to all ages. Under-18 and unknown-age players cannot join online competition through the app. The selected age band stays transient in the join screen; it is not saved as an age profile. The app has no chat, custom public names, photos, paid items or targeted advertising. Google Play and Family Link manage applicable parental download approvals and revocations.

Policy updates

If data handling changes in a future release, this policy and the store disclosures will be updated before those changes take effect. This policy describes the Android app; a website hosting the policy may process standard web requests under its hosting provider’s practices.

This website and our providers

Cloudflare hosts the game website, checks submitted replays, and stores online profile and gameplay records in its D1 database. Cloudflare processes network requests and service data to deliver and protect the service. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy. We do not add advertising or analytics scripts or retain application request logs. Database recovery backups expire after seven days; after a restoration, deletion requests are reapplied before service resumes.

Support email is routed by Cloudflare to our Google-hosted inbox. We use information you choose to send to answer your request, retain it only as needed to resolve the request and meet applicable obligations, and accept deletion requests. Please have a parent or guardian contact us for a child without including the child’s personal details.
